BetterGPT is a browser extension that enhances the ChatGPT web interface with user-controlled customization and productivity features, including interface layout adjustments, visual theme and typography options, message display controls, footer visibility controls, restoration of compacted prompt content, and optional date/time context for messages.
BetterGPT may process the following categories of data only as needed to provide its user-facing features:
BetterGPT reads and modifies content displayed on supported ChatGPT pages in order to apply interface customizations, hide optional interface elements, restore compacted prompt content, display timestamps, and operate other enabled features.
When the optional date/time context feature is enabled by the user, BetterGPT appends the user's local date and time context to the message being submitted through ChatGPT. This feature is disabled unless enabled by the user through the extension settings.
BetterGPT stores user-selected preferences, such as layout width, typography, theme, enabled features, message visibility settings, and footer visibility settings, using Chrome extension storage.
BetterGPT may also store message identifiers and associated local timestamps in the browser's local storage in order to display timestamps for user messages. BetterGPT does not store the full text of user messages for this timestamp feature.
BetterGPT does not independently transmit user data to servers operated by the developer.
When the user enables the optional date/time context feature, the local date and time context is included in the message that the user submits to ChatGPT. That submitted content is processed by ChatGPT according to OpenAI's applicable terms and privacy practices.
Chrome may synchronize extension preferences through the user's browser account when Chrome Sync is enabled, according to Google's applicable privacy practices.
BetterGPT does not execute remotely hosted JavaScript or WebAssembly code. The executable code required for the extension is included within the extension package.
BetterGPT does not sell user data.
BetterGPT does not use or transfer user data for advertising, creditworthiness, lending, or purposes unrelated to the extension's single purpose.
BetterGPT's use of information obtained from supported website pages complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data is used only to provide or improve the extension's user-facing features.
Users can enable or disable BetterGPT features through the extension popup. Users can remove stored extension settings by uninstalling the extension or clearing extension/browser storage.
This privacy policy may be updated if BetterGPT's features or data handling practices change. Any updated version will be published on this page with a revised effective date.
