Supporting the Truth and Reconciliation Process
Land Acknowledgement
We begin by acknowledging the traditional territory upon which we gather this morning. We are situated on the traditional territory of the Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee, Neutral, and Huron peoples, which is covered by the Upper Canada Treaties. We also recognize the Indigenous communities in close proximity to the city of Woodstock: Chippewas of the Thames, Oneida of the Thames, Munsee-Delaware Nation, Mississaugas of New Credit, and Six Nations of the Grand. We are grateful to be able to live, work, and worship here.
We commit to living out the Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action, in particular, to bring justice for the families of thousands of children who never returned home from residential school.
We seek a new relationship with the Original Peoples of this land, one based in honour and deep respect.
Here are some links that will provide information and education about the Truth and Reconciliation process in Canada and with a variety of Canadian churches.
