So, you've chosen to become a violin player! That's a good choice. There are less violin players than there are piano and guitar players, so your skills will be in higher demand once you get good at this! Now, I've collected you a bunch of high value violin starter kits to choose from. Pick one that inspires you the most and fits your budget.
I am very passionate about music and all of my recommendations are based on my own research and personal experience in music (over 15 years). Before you make a purchasing decision, let me tell you of the four different types of violins: Classical violin/acoustic violin, electric violin, acoustic electric violin and the silent violin. All of them serve a specific purpose and you should buy the right one for you. So, I will summarize their properties to you, so you can make an informed decision on what to buy.
Classical/acoustic violin is the traditional violin that you know. There's no electronic devices built into it. The sound is acoustically made.
Electric violin is supposed to be played on an amplifier. It still makes some noise without an amplifier, but not a lot.
Acoustic electric violin combines the best elements of a classical violin and the electric violin. This is the most versatile violin type.
Silent violin is also an electric violin, but it is designed to make very little noise when an amplifier is not used with it. Good for those that live with others or have rooms with bad sound proofing.
If you want to streamline your learning experience, getting this guide could prove useful! Happy learning friends!
Best Violin
146 reviews and 4 and a half stars out of 5 at the time of this writing. That is very impressive indeed. The price is very solid for what you get AND the violin itself looks fantastic. People are really praising this one in the reviews. That's always a great sign.
I would call this the overall winner. Definitely should serve you well for years to come.
Best Violin For Beginners
If you really liked the best violin, but can't invest 249$ on a beginner violin kit.. This is definitely what you want for yourself. It's a great looking violin, just like the previous one, and it's 80$ cheaper!
Realistically speaking, most of you are probably going to order this one, because it hits that perfect sweet spot in quality and price. It's definitely the best beginner violin.
100 Dollar Violin
For 99$ you can get a very traditional looking violin with a bunch of accessories. If you're interested in violin, and your budget is exactly 100$, well.. This is it right here. You even get some free violin lessons!
Cheap Violin
I am surprised they manage to sell these for so cheap, and still make a profit! Luckily for you, that's not your problem. If you're seriously tight on budget, this is as low as you can go without getting something completely useless. This affordable violin still has positive reviews on it and people seem to be pleased with what they got.
I'm just glad these options exist, because not everybody can just throw cash around on everything that seems remotely interesting.
Silent Violin
If you live in an environment, where you need to be more quiet than usual, this silent electric violin is for you! Silent electric violin is a violin that is played through either an amplifier or a virtual amplifier on your computer. And both of these options can include the usage of headphones, so you don't bother anybody else. AND they are designed to make less noise (there's no sound box, as you can see).
Very practical for most of us. If I were to personally buy something from this list, it would be the silent electric violin.
Acoustic Electric Violin
Acoustic electric violin is a hybrid violin. It's a combination of classical violin and electric violin. So, it makes more noise than a silent violin (it has a sound box like the classical violin), but it also has the electronics built into it. So, this is the most versatile instrument on this list by far. Highly practical indeed.
On top of that, the price is only 109,99$ and the violin itself looks fantastic. That's some great design work. My favorite, definitely.
Cheap Electric Violin
This one could also be classified as a silent violin. Then again, all electric violins are kind of silent by nature. Some just more than others.
I added this one on the list, because even though the previous violin is also electric.. It is not silent. And some people just have to have that silent violin because otherwise they get kicked out of their apartment.
Also, not everybody has the money for that previously mentioned silent electric violin, so this is a good alternative.
Violin For Kids
Ages 2-4: 1/16 Size violin
Ages 3-5: Either A) 1/16 Size violin or B) 1/4 Size violin
Ages 4-6: 1/4 Size violin
Ages 6-9: 1/2 Size violin
Ages 8-12: 3/4 Size violin
(You can use your own judgement here! Those are the general recommendations)
This Concludes The List!
I've included all violin types in the list for differing price ranges (and ages). Each product was chosen because there were enough reviews to prove that the instrument is worth buying. Now all you need to do is take that first step into becoming a musician!
My YouTube channel and who am I?
Hey, I am Pege and I'm a instrumentalist that creates anime and gaming related music covers for my YouTube channel. I'm very enthusiastic about what I do and my biggest love in life is my guitar and producing music in general.
I mostly pick songs that play in very iconic scenes in the shows that I watch. For example, when Kirito and Asuna (from Sword Art Online) buy their first house together. Or when they both fall asleep on the grass outside in the fields of Aincrad.
I'm not in this for fame nor money. Though, both of those things do help me quite a bit! Thanks for reading my article. I hope you find what you were looking for.
