Ben Stanford

Playwright, Educator, Composer, Director

I am a playwright, educator, and director in the MFA Playwriting program at Texas Tech University. I work primarily as an educator for all ages, as well as a researcher, playwright, composer, dramaturg, producer and performer! I am committed to helping others create work that gives voice to difference and the collaborative nature of theatre.


Ben is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America and the Playwrights' Center, and an honored recipient of the 2024 SETC Young Scholars Award, J. T. and Margaret Talkington Graduate Fellowship, Bill and Ann Stokes Regents Scholarship Endowment, and the Hoenig Theatre Artist Scholarship. Ben's works have been performed in Utah, Texas, Ohio, Nebraska, and online. He is a current co-president of Red Theatre Company, producing multiple productions and workshops. He has taught extensively for all ages, including with Texas Tech, the Institute of Reading Development, Write On! Workshops, and various conferences.  Ben received his Honors Bachelor of Arts from the University of Utah, graduating Summa Cum Laude and as the College of Fine Arts Outstanding Undergraduate Researcher.
