Hello, my name is Ben Haussmann. I am currently a PhD student in the department of biological sciences at Auburn University. I am part of the Wada Lab where we study how environmental effects impact reproduction, development, and the underlying physiology of zebra finches.
My undergraduate studies were completed at Juniata College. There I worked with Roy Nagle and Dr. Chris Grant to understand how environmental contaminants may affect northern map turtle phenotypes. I then moved to Nebraska to complete my masters degree with Dr. Travis Robbins at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. During this time I mainly studied how temperatures affect metabolic rates across widespread prairie lizard populations.
Outside of science, my other interests include: being outdoors where I enjoy hiking and fishing. I love music and enjoy playing piano as a stress reliever. Finally, I am an unapologetic Philadelphia Eagle fanatic (Phillies and Sixers too). Go Birds!
