My research focuses on the economics of crime, education, and immigration, using experimental and quasi-experimental methods. As a researcher, I work to support innovative policy-making at the local and state level. My ongoing projects study the impacts of restorative justice practices in public schools; the effects of rehabilitative programming in state prisons; and racial and socioeconomic disparities in the U.S. criminal legal system. I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and I received my Ph.D. in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
