"Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it." — Psalm 34:14 (KJV)
The call to live a righteous life is one of God's greatest instructions to every believer. God does not only ask us to avoid evil; He commands us to turn away from it completely. Every act of unrighteousness distances us from God's perfect will, while every step toward righteousness draws us closer to Him. In a world where dishonesty, immorality, and compromise are becoming increasingly common, Christians are called to stand apart. Choosing righteousness means making decisions that honor God, even when they are difficult. It means refusing to participate in sinful practices, regardless of the pressure from society or those around us.
Running from unrighteousness requires spiritual discipline. We must guard our hearts, renew our minds with God's Word, and depend on the Holy Spirit for strength. When temptation arises, we should respond immediately by turning to God in prayer and removing ourselves from situations that may lead us into sin. God promises His presence and guidance to those who seek Him with a sincere heart. Although living righteously may involve sacrifice, it brings lasting peace, joy, and the assurance of God's favor. A life devoted to righteousness becomes a light that points others to Christ. Let your daily desire be to reject everything that displeases God and embrace a life of holiness. As you depart from evil and pursue righteousness, your relationship with God will grow stronger, and your life will reflect His glory.
