Your greatest battles are won or lost in your heart. If the enemy can corrupt your heart, he can influence your thoughts, choices, and relationship with God. That is why Scripture commands us to guard it above everything else. Do not allow bitterness, pride, lust, fear, envy, offense, or deception to take root. What you continually entertain in your heart will eventually be revealed in your life. Protect your heart by filling it with God's Word, living a life of prayer, and walking in obedience to the Holy Spirit.
Be careful what you watch, listen to, and believe, for every influence is either drawing you closer to Christ or pulling you away from Him. A guarded heart is a heart that remains pure, discerning, and steadfast in the face of temptation. When your heart belongs completely to God, the enemy loses his foothold.
Bible References (NKJV):
Proverbs 4:23—"Keep "your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life."
Psalm 119:11, Philippians 4:8.
Conclusion: Guard your heart as you would guard your life, because your heart determines the direction of your destiny. A heart surrendered to God becomes a fortress that the enemy cannot easily penetrate and a vessel through which God fulfills His purpose.
