THE BIBLE IS NOT A JOKE.

INTRODUCTION: The Bible is not an ordinary book. It is the inspired, living, and powerful Word of God given to humanity. Throughout history, countless lives have been transformed by its truth, comforted by its promises, corrected by its instruction, and saved through its message of Jesus Christ. Yet, in today's world, many people treat the Bible as though it were just another book. Some leave it on a shelf without reading it, some mock its teachings, and others reject its authority altogether.

The Bible is not a joke. It is God's eternal Word, and every person will one day give an account for how they responded to it. The Bible deserves our reverence, our obedience, and our daily attention because it reveals the character of God, His plan of salvation, and His will for us.

THE BIBLE IS THE LIVING WORD OF GOD.

The Bible is not merely a collection of ancient writings. It is God's inspired revelation to humanity. Every page points to His truth, His holiness, His love, and His redemption through Jesus Christ.

"The Scripture declares, 'All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness." — 2 Timothy 3:16 (NKJV): Because it is God's word, the Bible carries divine authority. Its message never changes because God never changes.

THE BIBLE HAS POWER. The Word of God is alive. It convicts hearts, strengthens faith, exposes sin, brings wisdom, and leads people into righteousness. The Bible says, "For the word of God is living and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword." — Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV)

When people receive God's Word with faith, it produces spiritual growth and transformation. It is impossible to walk with God while ignoring His Word genuinely.

MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE. An encounter that deeply impressed upon my heart is the importance of honoring the Bible. I have several Bibles, and I chose to place one in a particular place in my room as a dedicated place of prayer and fellowship with God. One early morning, while I was lying in bed, I looked toward where my Bible lay. To my amazement, I saw what appeared to be a flame above the Bible. It was unlike an ordinary fire. It resembled a white, smoky flame. I watched it with reverence, and within my heart I became deeply aware of the presence of God.

The experience filled me with holy awe and reminded me that God's presence is real and that His Word is holy. I do not present this experience as a doctrine that everyone should expect or as proof that God always reveals Himself in this way. Our faith rests on God's written Word, not on personal experiences alone. However, this moment strengthened my personal conviction that the Bible must never be treated casually. It renewed my reverence for the Scriptures and my desire to draw closer to God through His Word.

DO NOT TAKE GOD'S WORD LIGHTLY. Many people own a Bible but rarely open it. Others know what it says but refuse to obey it. Knowledge without obedience does not please God.

Jesus said, "But why do you call me 'Lord, Lord' and not do the things that I say?" — Luke 6:46 (NKJV). Reading the Bible, without being applied, will never produce the spiritual maturity God desires. The purpose of Scripture is to transform our lives.

HONOR THE BIBLE.

The Bible should be read with prayer, humility, and a willing heart. It should shape our thoughts, guide our decisions, correct our mistakes, and strengthen our faith. As believers, we should treasure God's Word, meditate on it daily, and obey it wholeheartedly.

One experience that deeply challenged me happened when I lived with a roommate who practiced Islam. One day, I accidentally placed a pen on top of her Qur'an. She immediately asked me to remove it and explained that, in her faith, nothing should be placed on top of the Qur'an because it is treated with great honor and respect.

That experience caused me to reflect on how Christians should honor the Holy Bible. If others show such reverence for the book they consider sacred, how much more should we reverence the Scriptures, which are the inspired Word of God? We should never treat the Bible as an ordinary book or handle it carelessly. Instead, we should honor it by reading it faithfully, studying it diligently, believing its truth, obeying its commands, and allowing it to transform our lives. Our reverence for the Bible is demonstrated not only by the way we handle it physically but, above all, by the way we live according to its teachings.

The psalmist declared, "Your word I have hidden in my heart so that I might not sin against You." — Psalm 119:11 (NKJV)

CONCLUSION: The Bible is not a joke. It is the living, inspired, and eternal Word of God. It deserves our deepest respect because it reveals God's truth and leads us to salvation through Jesus Christ. Whether God reminds us of His presence through the quiet conviction of the Holy Spirit or through a personal experience that deepens our reverence, our foundation must always remain His written Word. Let us never neglect the Scriptures. Let us read them, believe them, obey them, and live by them every day.
