At the VIRGO gravitational-wave detector, Italy
I am Bence Bécsy, an Assistant Professor in the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Birmingham. My research focuses on gravitational waves, but I love everything astrophysics. I am a member of the NANOGrav collaboration, which aims to detect low-frequency gravitational waves by observing millisecond pulsars. I am also a member of the LIGO Scientific Collaboration, which operates the LIGO gravitational-wave detectors.
Before coming to Birmingham, I was a Postdoctoral Researcher at Oregon State University. I earned my PhD in Physics at Montana State University in the picturesque town of Bozeman, Montana, USA (picture above is showing the Crazy Mountains not too far from there). I also have a Physics MSc and BSc from Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest, Hungary.
