iCallScreen is a phone dialer. It works with the most sensitive things on your device — your contacts, your call history, and who is calling you. None of it leaves your phone. This page explains exactly what the app does with them.
1. THE SHORT VERSION
Everything iCallScreen knows about your calls and contacts stays on your phone. Names are matched against your own contacts on the device. What does leave is limited to the anonymous reporting and advertising that keep the app free.
Stays on your device:
- Your contacts and their photos
- Your call history
- Notes you write on a contact
- Favourites, blocked numbers
- Theme, language, call wallpaper
Leaves your device:
- Anonymous usage and crash reports
- Advertising identifier, for ads
- Purchase confirmations, via Google Play
We do not upload your contact list. We do not upload your call log. We never send a phone number to any server. We do not record calls. We do not sell personal information.
2. WHAT STAYS ON YOUR DEVICE
To act as your phone app, iCallScreen reads data that Android stores on the device and shows it back to you. This data is read where it already lives and is not copied to any server.
- Contacts. Names, phone numbers, email addresses and photos, so the app can list them, search them, and show a name instead of a bare number. This is also the only source used to name an incoming caller: the number is matched against your contacts on the device, never looked up online. The app can also create and edit contacts when you ask it to.
- Call history. Numbers, times, durations and call types, so the Recents tab can show them. The app can delete entries when you ask it to.
- Phone and SIM state. Call state and SIM information, so the app knows when a call starts or ends and which SIM to place it on.
- Notes. Any note you type on a contact is saved in a database inside the app's private storage.
- Your settings. Language, theme, call background, which tab you last used, and similar preferences.
All of this is removed when you uninstall the app. Uninstalling does not affect your Android contacts or call log themselves, which belong to the system.
3. ANALYTICS, CRASHES AND ADS
iCallScreen uses services from Google. Each one collects a limited amount of data under Google's own privacy terms.
Usage analytics and crash reports
Firebase Analytics records which screens are opened and which features are used. Firebase Crashlytics and Performance Monitoring record crashes and slow operations, including device model, Android version and a stack trace. These reports describe the app, not you: they contain no contacts, no call history and no phone numbers.
Advertising
The free version shows ads through Google AdMob. AdMob receives your device's advertising identifier, approximate location derived from your IP address, and basic device information in order to select and measure ads. It does not receive your contacts or your call history.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app asks for your consent before any personalised advertising, using Google's consent form. You can reopen that choice at any time from [where in the app the consent option lives — or delete this sentence].
Purchases
Buying the ad-free version goes through Google Play Billing. Google processes the payment; the app only receives confirmation that a purchase exists. Card details never reach the app.
Voice search
Tapping the microphone in a search field opens Android's own speech recogniser. That component records and transcribes the audio under its own permissions and privacy policy, and returns only the resulting text. iCallScreen never records audio itself.
Remote configuration
Firebase Remote Config is used to turn features and ad placements on and off. This is a download only — no information about you is sent.

4. PERMISSIONS
Android asks for these permissions because a default phone app cannot work without them. You can refuse or revoke any of them in Android Settings, and the features that depend on them will stop working.
- Contacts (READ_CONTACTS, WRITE_CONTACTS) — show your contacts, search them, and add or edit a contact when you ask.
- Call log (READ_CALL_LOG, WRITE_CALL_LOG) — show the Recents list and delete entries you remove.
- Calls (CALL_PHONE, ANSWER_PHONE_CALLS, MANAGE_OWN_CALLS) — place calls, answer them, and hang up.
- Phone state (READ_PHONE_STATE, READ_PHONE_NUMBERS) — know when a call starts or ends, and which SIM is in use.
- Display over other apps (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW) — show the incoming-call screen over whatever app you are using.
- Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS, USE_FULL_SCREEN_INTENT) — show the ringing and ongoing-call notifications.
- Foreground service (FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_PHONE_CALL) — keep a call running while the app is in the background.
- Audio routing (MODIFY_AUDIO_SETTINGS) — switch between earpiece, speaker and headset during a call.
- Wake lock (WAKE_LOCK) — keep the screen responsive while a call is connecting.
- Internet (INTERNET) — ads, anonymous analytics and crash reports, and remote configuration.
5. DEFAULT PHONE APP
Android only allows the default phone app to place and receive calls, so iCallScreen asks for that role during setup. Granting it does not give the app any access beyond the permissions listed above. You can hand the role back to another app at any time in Settings > Apps > Default apps > Phone app.
6. HOW LONG DATA IS KEPT
- On your device — notes, cached results and settings are kept until you delete them, clear the app's storage, or uninstall the app.
- Analytics and crash reports — retained by Google according to the retention period set for the project, which defaults to 2 months for analytics data and 90 days for crash reports.
7. YOUR CHOICES
- Refuse or revoke any permission in Android Settings > Apps > iCallScreen > Permissions.
- Reset or delete your advertising ID in Android Settings > Privacy > Ads. Deleting it stops personalised advertising across all apps.
- Remove the ads by purchasing the ad-free version.
- Delete everything the app stored by uninstalling it, or by clearing its storage in Android Settings.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, California or another region with equivalent law, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete personal information relating to you, and to object to certain processing. Write to us at the address below and we will respond within the period the applicable law allows.
8. CHILDREN
iCallScreen is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. CHANGES
If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with a new effective date. Where a change materially affects how your information is handled, we will say so in the app before it takes effect.
