My brand new Chromecast 2 hangs everytime I try to cast from Soda Player on my laptop computer and it only comes back when I open Chrome and interrupt the connection with Soda despite having closed Soda Player on the laptop. I'm on firmware 1.29.104827 and Windows 10 Home on Asus Zenbook 3. My router is an Asus 3200 triband with Asus Merlin. The IPs are static by MAC and I tried using the 2.4 and 5 Ghz bands with no success. Other players like Videostream and Airflow works like a charm but I need the acestream capabilities of Soda. I tried also the same player with other Chromecast on other network with success so I can only conclude that something is wrong with my Chromecast or my network configuration.

I tried resetting internet, downloading again Soda Player, turning off and on Chromecast, checking the firewall settings, but nothing happened. Other players still can cast to Chromecast, only Soda Player is having problems.

Any idea how to make it works again? Otherwise, good alternatives to Soda Player? I just need a video player that can cast to Chromecast and use the subs (VLC for instance can't cast subs to Chromecast), I heard about VideoStream but it looks discontinued.

Another option to make your audio output device more portable, is to run the online player on your mobile phone or an old phone or spare tablet, and connect that to your speakers in any location, and continue to control it via the Master Interface on a different device (e.g. laptop, desktop) at a different physical location in the room.

However, you mentioned you plan to integrate with the Bitmovin player, so after a quick Google search, I found this documentation from Bitmovin. It should be noted that the example provided in that link uses version 2 of the CAF receiver framework, which is now deprecated.

If that falls through you are going to need to write all the bindings to listen to sender events, player events, handling DRM, updating the UI manually, etc. If you decide to go down this path, a good starting point in Google's documentation is here.

AFAIK these is an API available for Chromecast so any app developer can support chromecast natively. Since its so cheap it would be a great and easy way to cast videos playing in ZP to an external monitor or beamer....

The best player I've found so far is: Cloud flac, mp3, aac Chrome browser extension. But it allows only select particular files to play, does not allow to select folders. It also has limited features (eg. no browse by artist, album) and ugly interface.

Recently, however, things have been acting up, little things, but the little things add up!! With no updates or further support from the manufacturer, I can read the writing on the wall. I am not giving up yet on the player, by any measure, but I did begin looking into alternatives, including the fire tv stick and android media box players with Kodi.

This is what I know about Kodi. It is a free media processing, and serving app that needs to be installed in a processing device, such as a computer or computer-like device. It cannot be installed on a hard drive, because a hard drive is just a data storage device, not a data processing device. If you go to the main Kodi site at kodi.tv you can learn more about it and see that there are apps and programs for it to run on certain Android devices as well as computer devices like Windows and Apple computers. I first learned about Kodi from people more savvy than I am about these things. They were installing it on various Android boxes and players like Raspberry Pi and even Fire TV sticks as all are computer-like devices, i.e., they contain powerful processor chips that can crunch data well enough to deal with the demands of video files.

By utilizing the addMetadata Bitmovin Player API it is possible to send custom messages from the player to the cast receiver. When sending custom messages, messageNamespace must be the same value as registered on the receiver side.

Google Chromecast is a device that you plug into your TV's HDMI port. Using your smartphone or computer as a remote control, you can use Chromecast to access video content. The Chromecast Plugin enables a player to cast video from your desktop or Android Chrome browser using Brightcove Player to the Chromecast device.

Optional: Enter the configuration options in the Options(JSON) text box. An example for the default player in the 1752604059001 account is shown. You, of course, need to enter information for your player.

Since the web player and its playback engine are somewhat resource intensive, running in a resource constrained environment (such as a Chromecast) with additional heavy scripts can negatively impact the user experience!

When unspecified, this will point to the player that is casting your videos. Supplying this option will force the receiver to load a specific player rather than the player that is currently casting the video. This is useful when you want specific player code to only run on the Chromecast.

Note that when using the playerUrl option, the players used as a sender and a receiver are different. If you are using domain restricted players, you need to use whitelisting. The whitelisting should be done for the sender player, NOT the player used as receiver (which is the player specified in this option).

Each element of this array should be a string that matches the name of a global variable (a property of window). This value will then be passed to the player on the Chromecast and used when resolving ad macros in a VOD SSAI URL.

i had been using chromecast almost daily without any issues. just upgraded to 5.3.88 in the last hour, reset the app and chromecast no longer works - error message "could not connect to the device". this occurs for all 3 of my chromecast able devices (1x official chromecast audio, 1x jbl link 20 speaker, 1x mibox android tv box)i can still play the same local music files from my sd card over chromecast using different android apps (such as 'hi fi cast') without any issues, so this is rocket player specific.I've tried resetting the phone completely, problem still persists.I'm using moto g5+, android 7.0, 1st june security patch (up to date).

THEOplayer supports Chromecast session takeover (check our Chromecast Solutions page here). This means that when the user has selected a cast device and it is casting, a new video will automatically take over the existing session. In this manner, the user is not prompted for a cast device again so the viewing experience is faster and smoother.

When a cast session already exists, the player will automatically start casting when the play button is clicked. It is possible to start a session by clicking the cast button or using the global API.

When a cast session exists the player will NOT automatically start casting. However, when the cast button is clicked and a session exists, the existing session is used and the user is not prompted with a dialog.

How can I start casting music to ChromeCast Audio when I'm using play.spotify.com ? Casting is working well form my phone or from PC application, but I don't see this option in the web player. Thank you.

I can start a acestream with ace player and it works fine but when I use (Media-server Beta) and choose my saved channels and start remote and try to cast to chromecast it just shows a blue logo in middle of the TV screen. Last week it worked perfect but now it wont start.

I have a Chromecast 3rd generation that supports 1080p 60fs. It works perfectly with 1080p 60fps youtube videos and other streaming platforms. The problem is with when I cast my 60fps home video to Chromecast (emby media player as far as I remember 2.1.0 version) Video is not smooth. Sometimes it looses some video frames. Sometimes the audio is interrupted for a second or two. It is playable but it is very frustrating when you watch a video and it is choppy sometimes.

CSS variables allow you to customize various cast-media-player properties, including the player background, splash image, font family, and more. You canadd these variables with in-line CSS styles, a CSS stylesheet, or thestyle.setProperty in Javascript.

The .logo class is positioned in front of the .background class, and spansthe entire player. This class displays when your receiver is launching. If youdon't provide any .splash variables, the .logo class also displays whenyour receiver is in an idle state.

Similar to the .logo class, the .splash class spans the entire player. Ifyou set these properties, your .splash variables will override the .logovariables when your receiver is idle. This means that you could use one set of.logo properties at launch, and display separate backgrounds or images whenyour receiver is idle.

Custom UI data binding allows you to use your own custom UI element and use thePlayerDataBinderclass to bind the UI to the player state instead of adding thecast-media-player element to your receiver. The binder also supports sendingevents for data changes, if the app does not support data binding.

Casting VoD content to another device like a Smart-TV or Chromecast is a common way to enjoy the content on a bigger or simply different screen. Learn how to enable it in our player and how to adjust its configuration or to leverage your own Chromecast receiver app.

Besides simply enabling this feature, you can also customize the look&feel of the player UI used on Chromecast, as well as leverage your own application by providing your own app-id and messaging namespace, and you can push additional metadata upon initialization to configure your app or share other details needed by it.

receiverApplicationId: If not set, the Bitmovin Player is using its default Bitmovin Chromecast receiver application to manage the playback of your content. If you want to use own custom receiver application, you can provide its receiver application ID here and it will be used by our player instead. ff782bc1db
