This project started as a single center study by Dr. Gary Tse and his team members who are based in Hong Kong, China. With the kind support of open-minded investigators from many countries, it promptly expanded to include different centers with expertise in managing Brugada patients. The aim of this project is to use different electrocardiographic indices for risk stratification in patients with Brugada ECG patterns.

Brugada Syndrome is a genetic cardiac ion channelopathy with chracteristic ECG patterns, predisposing to the development of syncopal symptoms, spontaneous ventricular tachy-arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death.

We differ from other registries in four major respects:
The investigators are taking an all inclusive stance, and welcome contributions from any interested investigators with relevant data to join our project. For example, we have researchers from all over the globe coming from centres of varying sizes.
We particularly encourage new and junior researchers to join our project.
We have recruited investigators from across the disciplines, such as pre-clinical electrophysiology, data science, clinical cardiology and electrophysiology, and epidemiology, to facilitate collaboration and cooperation.
The goal is to utilize complex and higher dimensional analyses to facilitate risk prediction.

Paweł T. His research interests primarily include electrocardiology, cardiovascular implantable electronic devices, mechanisms and biomarkers of cardiovascular diseases (especially cardiac arrhythmias), translational medicine with applications in cardiovascular medicine, cardiac imaging and rare cardiovascular diseases and disorders. He served as reviewer or expert for leading cardiology Journals, including European Heart Journal, Journal of the American College of Cardiology and PLOS Medicine as well as for national and foreign Institutions. He gained valuable clinical and research experience during his visits and trainings at the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, Radcliffe Department of Medicine, University of Oxford, Oxford, UK, at the Cardiovascular Division in the Department of Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine in Saint Louis, Missouri, USA, and at Barnes Jewish Hospital, Saint Louis, Missouri, USA. He has received various awards and distinctions, including 1st place in the best student of the Republic of Poland contest (the Student Nobel Prize 2011), a distinction of honour and medal from the Polish Academy of Sciences, Faculty of Medical Sciences (the Doctor Wacław Mayzl Medical Laurel), and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education scholarship for outstanding achievements (2013/2014) and for prominent young scientists (2020). In 2021 he received the International Society of Electrocardiology Bayés ECG Award for his outstanding achievements in electrocardiology (the International Congress on Electrocardiology – joint meeting of the 21st Congress of the International Society for Holter and Noninvasive Electrocardiology and the 48th Congress of the International Society of Electrocardiology).
