If you want a wired desktop controller for monitoring speakers and headphones, choose Behringer MONITOR2USB; if you need wireless in-ear monitoring for performers, choose summina SWS-12. For glasses wearers, the summina’s in-ear design may be easier to wear alongside frames than conventional over-ear headphones, while the Behringer is the better fit for a stationary audio setup.
These products solve different problems. The Behringer is a speaker and headphone monitoring controller with USB audio connectivity. The summina is a wireless transmitter-and-receiver system built around in-ear listening, with support for up to four receivers per transmitter. The deciding question is whether you want to manage a listening setup at a desk or hear a monitor mix while moving around.
• Behringer MONITOR2USB strength: A dedicated speaker-and-headphone monitoring center with USB connectivity. Trade-off: It is a desktop monitoring controller, not a wireless in-ear system.
• summina SWS-12 strength: Wireless in-ear monitoring, with one transmitter able to connect to as many as four receivers. Trade-off: It depends on rechargeable batteries, with a stated 6–8 hours of use per charge.
• Behringer is for: People managing speaker and headphone monitoring from a fixed audio setup.
• summina is for: Performers, rehearsal groups, and other listeners who want a wireless monitor feed and compatible in-ear headphones.
• For glasses wearers: The summina’s in-ear format avoids the over-ear cups that can press against frames, though fit and comfort still depend on the headphones used.
The Behringer MONITOR2USB is designed to serve as a central point for monitoring speakers and headphones. It also includes a USB audio interface, which makes it relevant to a computer-based audio workflow. Its listed audio input and connectivity are USB, and its maximum sample rate is 48 kHz. Those details make it a more natural match for someone building or organizing a stationary studio setup than for a musician who needs to move freely onstage.
The product information lists 12 channels and compatibility with generic DAW software for Windows. That may matter to someone thinking through how the controller fits into a Windows-based recording arrangement, but it does not tell us every detail of how a particular studio will be wired. I would focus on its core role: speaker and headphone monitoring with USB connectivity, rather than treating it as a complete description of every function in a studio.
Choose the Behringer if your priority is controlling monitoring from a fixed desk and you want a device identified as both a monitoring controller and an audio interface. Skip it if your main need is a wireless personal feed, multiple mobile receivers, or an in-ear system for performers. Nothing in the listed features makes it a substitute for the summina’s transmitter-and-receiver setup.
How We Research
We compare products from their published specs and features; the verdicts below are our independent editorial opinions.
For someone wearing glasses, the Behringer’s suitability depends on the headphones used with it; the controller itself does not determine ear fit. If your main goal is finding the best on ear headphones for glasses wearers, this product is not itself a headphone choice. It is the monitoring hub you might use with headphones that suit your frames.
The summina SWS-12 is a wireless in-ear monitor system for situations such as band rehearsals, stage performances, worship settings, and studio monitoring. Its 2.4 GHz wireless connection is specified for a range of up to 30 meters, with latency below 10 ms. Those figures point to a product intended to let a listener move around while receiving audio from a transmitter, rather than stay tethered to a monitoring controller.
One transmitter can connect to as many as four receivers, and the product information says each receiver can be adjusted independently. That feature makes the SWS-12 the more relevant option for a small group that needs individual listening control. It also supports charging while in use, and its battery life is stated as 6–8 hours per charge. The receiver has a physical volume knob and a 3.5 mm headphone jack for compatible in-ear monitoring headphones.
For glasses wearers, an in-ear system can be appealing because it does not rely on a large ear cup sitting over the ear and pressing against the arms of glasses. But the SWS-12 is a monitor system, not a complete promise of a particular earbud fit. The headphones are not specified as included in the data here, so buyers should check that the in-ear headphones they plan to use have a 3.5 mm connection and feel comfortable for their ears.
Pick the summina if wireless movement, a multi-receiver setup, and in-ear listening are central to your use. Skip it if you want a desktop controller for speakers and headphones, or if you do not want to manage rechargeable transmitter and receiver units. This is not a general-purpose replacement for the Behringer; it is a different kind of monitoring tool.
• Best for controlling speaker and headphone monitoring at a desk → Behringer MONITOR2USB. Its stated role is a speaker-and-headphone monitoring center, with USB connectivity.
• Best for wireless in-ear monitoring → summina SWS-12. It uses a 2.4 GHz wireless connection and is designed for in-ear listening through a 3.5 mm headphone jack.
• Best for connecting multiple listeners to one transmitter → summina SWS-12. One transmitter can pair with up to four receivers, with receiver-level adjustment.
• Best for a Windows DAW-related setup → Behringer MONITOR2USB. The product information lists compatibility with generic DAW software for Windows.
• Best for moving around during a rehearsal or performance → summina SWS-12. Its listed wireless range reaches 30 meters, and the transmitter and receiver have clip or belt-loop attachment options.
• Best for avoiding over-ear pressure on glasses → summina SWS-12, with a fit caveat. In-ear headphones do not sit over glasses arms, but comfort depends on the headphones you use.
• Best when you want a device specified around 48 kHz audio → Either, for different reasons. The Behringer lists a maximum sample rate of 48 kHz; the summina describes 24-bit/48 kHz support.
• Best for a setup that does not depend on battery runtime → Behringer MONITOR2USB. The summina’s transmitter and receiver are rechargeable and have a stated 6–8-hour battery life.
My Verdict
I would choose the summina SWS-12 if my priority were wireless in-ear monitoring, especially for a performer or small group that needs to move around. Its support for up to four receivers is a concrete advantage for shared use.
For glasses wearers, I’d lean toward its in-ear format over an over-ear arrangement, while checking headphone fit separately. I’d buy the Behringer MONITOR2USB instead for a fixed speaker-and-headphone monitoring setup with USB connectivity. These are different tools, so my pick comes down to whether mobility or desktop control matters more.
No. Its listed connectivity is USB, and it is described as a speaker-and-headphone monitoring controller with a USB audio interface. The wireless 2.4 GHz connection belongs to the summina SWS-12.
Yes. Its one-to-many feature supports up to four receivers from one transmitter, and each receiver can be adjusted independently. That makes it a better match for a small group than a single-listener setup that needs only desktop monitoring.
The summina’s in-ear format may avoid pressure from over-ear headphone cups against glasses arms. Comfort still depends on the specific in-ear headphones used; the system’s listed connection is a 3.5 mm headphone jack.
Choose the Behringer if your focus is a fixed speaker-and-headphone monitoring setup with USB connectivity. Choose the summina if you need wireless in-ear monitoring, movement, or several receivers connected to one transmitter. For current price information, check the Amazon button on the page.
