This workshop is part of Boodaville’s ongoing effort to reflect on inclusion in our own work. Instead of keeping that learning internal, we chose to open it up and learn in public, alongside people and projects navigating similar questions.
As part of a Boodaville funded solidarity project we have invited Alfred Decker to run this training to build more inclusive ways of working, organising, and learning together.
Using Social Permaculture as a design lens, we’ll look at practical questions such as:
Who are our teams, events, or initiatives really designed for?
Who benefits from how we organise — and who might be unintentionally left out?
How can we make more inclusive design choices, even with limited time, energy, or resources?
The focus is not on perfection, but on awareness, intention, and small, meaningful shifts.
This is a participatory, practice-based workshop, not a lecture.
You can expect:
Short inputs to frame key ideas around inclusion, equity, and accessibility
Small-group activities grounded in real situations participants bring
Practical design tools from Social Permaculture
Space for reflection, exchange, and shared learning
Concrete ideas you can adapt to your own context
We’re delighted to welcome Alfred Decker, an award-winning permaculture designer, Education Coordinator of Permaculture for Refugees, and a leading voice in Social Permaculture.
Alfred brings deep experience working at the intersection of design, education, and social justice—and a grounded, accessible approach to complex topics. He co-initiated the group Permaculture Barcelona 14 years ago. After living in the countryside for a decade, he is now returning to Barcelona and opening a new training centre called Permaculture Barcelona Hub…and this will be the first event there!
This workshop is especially relevant if you are involved in:
A team, organisation, or collective
Events, gatherings, or learning spaces
Community initiatives or grassroots projects
* No prior experience with permaculture or inclusion frameworks is needed — just curiosity and openness.
This is a funded workshop with limited places. We’re opening registration to gather interest and will confirm attendance once places are filled. Our aim is to ensure that spaces go to people who can attend and will benefit from being there.
