Shahin EL 3abkary "YFam"
Genre : Rap / Hip hop Country : Egypt Biography Ana mel balad de ( I am from this country ) is the title of one of his famous songs and is a sentence that best describes the artist and the character named Ahmad Shahin ,known as Shahin El عabkary . The sentence says it all about an artist whose lyrics are inspired by what normal people in Egypt and in the Arab world feel, their daily life situations and even the Egyptian slang that he uses is so easy to understand but it holds deep moral . He blends that with the Rap Old School essence and gives it a unique Egyptian and Arab flavor that is so different from other Arab rappers who copycat the foreign legacy of rap which alienates them from the recipients unlike him. Born on the 23rd of October 1991 in Alexandria , the city of Hip-Hop in Egypt and at the age of 13 (2004) the world of Hip-Hop attracted him and he started listening to rap and this encouraged him In the year 2005 to start writing some lyrics in Arabic, later he formed a rap group called Hazza Ardeya, they recorded some tracks independently in an amateur way and Shahin was the youngest rapper in Egypt at that time. In 2006 he met (Y-Crew) one of the rap pioneers in Egypt ,they helped him and put him on the first step so he can do his own recordings in a better quality using hot beats under the supervision of Y-Crew..Step by step he became better in writing lyrics and punch rhymes until his band (Haza Ardeya) got separated..At the end of the year 2006 he became one of the Y-Crew Family members and took his place as a very distinguished figure among the group,at that time Shahin started to focus on improving his style and his lyrics too and the outcome was outstanding releasing his first single Ana Mesamhak a very real and touching song which was based on a true life experience..listen to it here: https://soundcloud.com/shahino/ana-mesam7ak-shahin-el-abkary.
He believes that art should hold a message beside entertainment and as he is fully aware of his country’s problems , he tackled many political topics in his songs like Feeha w Feeha in a bold way that no other artists dare to do, also check it here: https://soundcloud.com/shahino/feeha-w-feeha-shahin-el-abkary .
One of the landmarks in his career was starring in the movie Microphone in 2010 which introduced the underground music world to people in Egypt .
Shahin made a very remarkable appearance in the movie which gained him more fans and publicity but unfortunately after the movie Egypt was going into a transition phase and undergoing many changes in every aspect including music and music lovers’ mood , Shahin was inactive at that period though he was observing and absorbing those changes paving the road for his comeback .
The first step was meeting with his precious fans(according to his own words ) live on stage on a huge and an unprecedented event which was the first Graffiti Battle in Egypt organized by Graffaholic Hip hop Cultural Center on October 28th 2012 then he had another performance on another street battle on May 3rd 2013 as an attempt using his voice to spread the Hip hop culture and draw more fans to it .
He followed that by participating in a rap slam debate battle that was on March 14th 2013 and was organized by Anna Lind foundation and the British council in Alexandria.
His latest remarkable appearance was at EL Sawy Cultural wheel in Cairo where he was nominated to represent Egypt in a rap cross-cultural event in Denmark, watch the video of the live performance here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dF3rSO5Mxwo .
Shahin is now working as a solo artist, his aim is to make Arabic hip hop culture more wider in the Arab world, and he loves helping any rapper taking his first steps in this area by giving Rap workshops passing his experience to others . He's also working on many collabo tracks with different rappers from Egypt and other countries beside founding a new recording studio in Alexandria along with putting the final touches to his new album.
