Biography

Meshwar Band is simultaneously both thoroughly Reggae and thoroughly Cairo. Marrying Reggae grooves with Arabic lyrics and a dash of invigorating blasts of brass, their music is all their own. Self-proclaimed Musicians for Peace, reflected in the double meaning of their name (“Meshwar” meaning journey, and also the combination of the Egyptian negating “mish” and “war”), this youthful and fun-loving troupe hopes to be part of a larger awakening in their society where harmony transcends all.
