Biography
City band Coming from the prospective of : Music is what’s left in our lives, City began...a band that was formed because when words fail music speaks.
5 years ago it was a coincidence when Wael Amer, current vocal of The City, met with Ahmed Mostafa, lead guitarist of the city- in one of the studios and started tossing around ideas on how to form a band and really mix western blues with Arabic " tawashe7" for example, although it was not easy to create such musical genre, specially that none of them academically studied music they were able to send that musical influence through to people. City sings about all walks of life, focusing on the Egyptian society in their lyrics as they truly would like to send an inspiring message for a change, as they always thought to have the gift of music is like having an unusual power, and u are responsible to use it for sending a true message to your fans and people, and knowing their Egyptians fans very well, groove is guaranteed when u hear them play...weather its a rock n roll song or a Daraboka style song ..they all share meaningful lyrics.
but what makes the lyrics so special is that a normal Egyptian would get the jest so would a sophisticated one Each of The members adds his own influence into the kind of music they play. Ahmed Moustafa with his rockfish solos and energetic bluesy guitar style, Wael Amer with his unmistakable Arabic high pitch notes and his quarter tone '3orab' . City Band works with a lot of different song writers, like Waleed AbdelMoun'em, Basim Lasheen, Montaser Higazy, and mostly Bahaa ElDin Mohammed who is one of Egypt’s most sophisticated song writers nowadays.
