She sings since she was five years old and learned to play guitar all by herself after trying the piano. Aya wrote songs in English and used Youtube to post English covers songs as well, building her e-reputation step by step.

Until the day she composed her first song in Arabic in November 2010. She then decided to stick to Arabic lyrics and started experimenting with texts her friends had written. A year later, she had a whole repertoire in Arabic which she shared for the first time with a small audience at Bikya Book Cafe.

Aya Metwalli stands out with her choice of prose for lyrics and unconventional song structures. She released several songs including: "Hodour We Gheyab", "Daftar "Safari", "Sabahul Khayr" and "The Winter Song
