Road accidents are always a leading cause of death and injuries globally. In San Diego, the latest annual report shows that 263 people lost their lives in traffic Accidents, 19,051 people were injured in traffic accidents and 11,128 San Diego traffic accidents that caused property damage in the same time period. Our project is dedicated to helping the citizens of San Diego to prevent traffic accidents as much as possible, by analyzing where and which time period are the peak traffic accident periods in the city. The project utilized the dataset from Kaggle website called US Accidents (4.2 million records) .
A Countrywide Traffic Accident Dataset (2016 - 2020). The project plans to use GIS and statistics tools such as ArcGIS online, tableau, R and Python and so on to analyze the car accidents that occurred in San Diego during 2017 to 2020. We plan to analyze the accidents to find out where are the high frequency areas and when is the high frequency time for the car accidents. Additionally, we will analyze what are the most important factors that affect the severity of the accident.
