Title: The influence of astrocytes in neuronal dynamics
Abstract: Astrocytes are a type of glial cell, which are non-neuronal cells in the central nervous system. They are described as sponge-like cells with multiple branching processes that can form contacts with neurons and other glial cells. Through interaction with other cells, they regulate the ion and neurotransmitter homeostasis in the brain.
In this talk, I will present our computational model of neuron-astrocyte networks to investigate the communication between the two cell types and will provide some connections to the research of distributed systems.
