Does anyone know how to bold calligraphic \mathscr fonts in a math environment? I can get a fancy calligraphic font if I use \mathscr, but \boldsymbol does not work, nor does \mathbf. There is a hack which uses poor man's bold, but I was wondering if there is an alternate way to do this "cleanly". I've also seen \bm used for \mathcal font, but that's not what I'm looking for unfortunately.

The RSFS fonts are not available in a bold version. You can however use the \pmb command from the amsbsy package, which simulates a bold weight by putting three copies of the respective character next to each other.

One way is to switch to LuaLaTeX (or XeLaTeX) with the unicode-math package. This allows you to use any OpenType math font. Complete OpenType math fonts should implement all math characters from Unicode, which in particular includes bold script letters.

2- write a function (called, say, boldfaceText) to do a search for the desired text (e.g., "Student A") and the two offset values for this text (i.e., startOffset and endOffsetInclusive) at each occurrence to set the font for the characters within these offset values to boldface:

an offset value for a character is simply the integer that describes the location of that character in the document, with the very first character having the offset value 1 (it's like the coordinate of the character).

the above two functions (docReplace and boldfaceText) could be a good way to introduce newbies (like me) to google doc scripts. after some time playing with google doc scripts to gain some familiarity, learn Robin's more elegant and advanced code that does the above two steps all at once.

Since regular expressions in JS don't return an array of matches but instead an array of properties of the current match you have to loop through the function, which always starts after the last match.

An element representing a rich text region. All text in a Document is contained within Text elements.A Text element can be contained within an Equation, EquationFunction,ListItem, or Paragraph, but cannot itself contain any other element. For moreinformation on document structure, see the guide to extending Google Docs.

Retrieves the font family setting. The name can be any font from the Font menu in Docs or Google Fonts, and is case-sensitive. The methods getFontFamily() and setFontFamily(fontFamilyName) now use string names for fonts instead ofthe FontFamily enum. Although this enum isdeprecated, it will remain available for compatibility with older scripts.

I'm in desperate need of your help! The script font shown on the images has recently appeared on several websites in the place of sans fonts the websites use. I have WhatFont Chrome extension so I can see what fonts are used on those sites and for three sites it's Sans fonts (Sofia Pro, Exo 2, PT Sans), for other sites I haven't checked.

The script font that kept popping up looked exactly like "Edwardian Script" but it seems it was actually a different font - most likely "Easy Street EPS" causing the problems. Thus, I recommend deleting Easy Street EPS from all of your font folders, restarting your PC, and hoping things fix themselves!

Just in case the above specific step doesn't work, here's the steps I took right before restarting and seeing the fix, because I was at the point of trying everything I could in bulk just to hope something worked:

Hi, just made an account to thank you guys for finding the right font to delete, and also to subscribe to the topic in case someone actually finds the origin of this issue, to avoid cutting the problem from further than necessary

An important development in Windows 10 is the Universal Windows Platform (UWP): a converged app platform allowing a developer to create a single app that can run on all Windows devices. Windows fonts are one aspect of this convergence: Windows 10 introduces a recommended UWP font set that is common across all editions that support UWP, including Desktop, Server, and Xbox.

A number of additional fonts are available for Desktop and Server, including all other fonts from previous releases. However, not all of these are pre-installed by default in all images. In order to make disk usage and font choices more relevant to users according to the languages that they use, a number of fonts have been moved into optional, on-demand packages. These packages are designed around the different scripts that fonts are primarily intended to support, and most are added automatically by Windows Update when the associated languages are enabled in language settings (for example, by enabling a keyboard). Any of these Feature On Demand (FOD) packages can also be added manually via Settings. To add font packages manually, select the Start button, and then select Settings > System > Optional features (if on a version older than Windows 10 22H2, navigate to Settings > Apps > Apps & features > Optional features instead).

Slab typefaces are best suited for display type and large headlines, with their super heavy forms making them ideal for drawing attention, however, slab fonts should be used in moderation. When overused, such as in long sentences or paragraphs, they typically become difficult to read due to their heavy weight.

Script fonts are amongst the least commonly seen styles within web and app design. Their styles can be difficult to scan and are most typically used for display text, rather than for body copy. Scripts can be exceptionally difficult to read at smaller point sizes or if used within areas of limited space.

Casual scripts are less formal and tend to appear to have been created with a web brush rather than a pen. Font weights and strokes can vary in width. Casual scripts are also frequently used in invitations to convey a rustic or whimsical feeling.
