Modern backgammon

Grosvenor Nicholas provides in this book the rules of modern backgammon.
This manual describes for the first time the doubling rule as it was played in American clubs. The doubling cube is not mentioned (it will be described by Ralph A. Bond in 1930) and doubling is done orally.
A Time article of Monday, May. 05, 1930 said: "An authority on backgammon is Grosvenor Nicholas, Manhattan clubman, retired wine importer. Last week his book, issued in 1928 when nobody cared, enjoyed high sales".
