Belfast Cohousing & Ecovillage - John & Rachel Nicholas

John and Rachel Nicholas have been making music together for more than 30 years. Their compelling songs are rooted in the history of folk and popular music and tell stories that are deep and true. Their harmonies attain a magic that only comes from two uniquely different voices striving for and finding a blend.

Their most recent EP ‘House of Dreams’ was released in August 2016 and spent a total of 7 weeks on WERU’s most played CDs. From their previous release -‘Here You Are’ - their songs ‘People Like Us’ and ‘America, Its You’ were both award winning entrants in The Great American Songwriting Contest in 2009.

They met in Rachel’s native California and then spent two years in New York City before moving to Massachusetts where they lived, raised a daughter and continued to write, record and perform for almost 30 years. In 2012 they moved to Mid Coast Maine and have become active in the music community there. They have performed at the Sweet Chariot Music Festival for the last several years and, in addition to their duo performances, have also formed a collaborative band with David Dodson called The Lowdown. They have shared the stage with Dave Mallett, Patty Larkin, Chris Smither, Paul Sullivan, Mary Gauthier and many others throughout New England.
