Project Overview: This is a Specialized Assignment for year 2 at AIE Seattle. My goal was to create a character from scratch, starting from moodboards and concept art to orthographics and finally to a fully textured model.
This was a solo project but I'd like to highlight what I've achieved
Concept Artist - Put together Moodboards, Designed Character with concept pages, Illustrations and Orthographics
Character Modeler - Modeled Character using Orthographic and UV unwrapped it
Texture Artist - Textured all parts of the model
Render Artist - Created Final Renders for model

Wanting to expand styles of characters I've created and modeled before, I chose to make a character that would fit into the Genshin Impact world both in it's style and lure. Researching designs of already pre-existing characters, I took notes of what made this style but also what holes hadn't been dove into so far. With that in mind, I chose to create a Electro Element based female character that resided in the Liyue region of the game. I also had two reasons as to why I chose to design a woman; a. to expand and diversify my character creations b. to challenge Genshin impact's style and styles similar to this that tend to oversexualize nearly all and only their female characters. Hyper-sexualization isn't inherently a flaw, in-fact it can be empowering for real people but, with fictional characters it can be repetitive and dehumanizing when all characters of one gender are sexualized. Point is, the creation of this character challenges the need of all women to be visually sexual and promotes a diversity in both the Genshin characters (in terms of expression) and my portfolio (in terms of gender).
