Bayesian Modeling for Musicology
Welcome
The goal of this international 3-day workshop is to understand the fundamentals of Bayesian modeling and to apply them to a simple but well-defined musicological research questions. Rephrasing research questions in terms of probabilistic models entails a change of mindset and reflections about which elements are relevant to the topic at hand as well as their mutual relationships. As getting hands-on experience with computational modeling is as important as understanding of basic theoretical underpinnings, this workshop aims at serving as an introduction for novices in statistical modeling but with a strong musicological background.

The workshop takes place in room 02.002 in the Zentrum für Philologie und Digitalität (ZPD) of Würzburg University. Inaugurated in 2023, ZPD a the central academic institution of the University of Würzburg, bridging the gap between the humanities, computer science and the digital humanities. Its purpose is to provide the best possible support and further development of humanities research in the digital age.
