Nagasuke Ise is a snake Oni who appears exceedingly dangerous and could be if he wanted to. He lives in a ghost town abandoned after a terrible battle killed most of the inhabitants and nearly flattened the countryside town. Many legends are told stating he did it himself to be alone. Samurai come to challenge him often for the glory of taking a vicious demon's head. None have ever returned from this quest. He is mostly hand to hand based, though he has a few magical abilities. Mostly, he relies on his direct line to a deity to accomplish extended supernatural deeds.
Abilities: Shapeshifting, Hypnosis, Minor Blessings, Elemental Breath
Purpose: Originally was a servant to Ugajin, the snake god of fertility and harvest, but was dropped from his position. Reason pending.
Appearance: A harsh, classic Oni face with snake-like and sharp blue eyes. His facial markings are natural and a tad kabuki in appearance. His fangs poke out of his lips. Pointed ears that poke out of his nearly white/blue-ish long hair with Sephiroth-esque bangs. Dark purple horns adorned with torn, tattered, and faded charms strung across them. These charms are usually made to ward off evil and thus gives him an even deadlier appearance as he has broken them to no longer be sealed. He has a snake tattoo that coils through many flowers all the way up his right arm. All of his phalanges end in iron sharp claws. His thick tail ends with an accent of hair and usually is only visible in his animistic form. He is dressed in a very formal outfit, his Haori, Kimono, and Hakama is in various shades of blue, the Obi around his waist leaning more violet. He wears simple Setta sandals.
Melancholy and quick to anger, but he hides that behind a facade of risky fun. Why face your problems when a pint and a sword fight is much more fun and might end in death, but more importantly death! Uses alcohol to escape his loneliness and will pick up nearly anyone around to not be alone at night. When sober he is stuck in his own mind and claws to get out, finding any escape he can utilize. He really needs someone to listen, but almost refuses to actually talk about what ails him. He misses his past when he had a purpose and happily fulfilled it and regrets no longer being able to have such stability.
Nagasuke Ise was once a devoted servant of Ugajin, the snake god of fertility and harvest. He was a guardian of the harvest, ensuring the land's prosperity and protecting the villages under Ugajin's watchful eye. Ise's loyalty to his deity was unwavering, and his connection to the god ran deep.
However, a fateful event would forever change his destiny. One day, while Ise was fulfilling his duties, an event of great significance occurred. The exact reason for Ise's subsequent fall from grace remains a matter of speculation and legend. Some say that a grievous mistake was made under his watch, causing a bountiful harvest to wither, leading to famine. Others claim a challenge arose from another supernatural being, and Ise failed to defend the village adequately.
The outcome of this event was Ugajin's decision to cast Ise from his divine service, severing the link that bound him to the snake god. This act left Ise adrift, his purpose stripped away, and his heart heavy with guilt and shame. Feeling abandoned by the deity he had devoted his life to, Ise turned his back on his former role and the very concept of protecting and nurturing.
With his newfound independence, Ise retreated to an isolated ghost town, a place where a terrible battle had unfolded, resulting in the death of most of its inhabitants and the near destruction of the surrounding countryside. Many legends claim that Ise himself was responsible for the devastation, either intentionally or as an uncontrollable force of nature, a manifestation of his inner turmoil.
In his solitary existence, Ise became an enigmatic and feared figure. Samurai, drawn by tales of a vicious demon, journeyed to challenge him, hoping to claim the glory of defeating such a formidable foe. None returned from their quests, and Ise's name became synonymous with peril and mystery.
Nagasuke Ise now lives a solitary life, haunted by his past, his harsh Oni appearance serving as a constant reminder of his fall from grace. The charms adorning his horns, once used to ward off evil, have been broken and shattered, symbolizing his rejection of the divine order. His snake-like nature and shapeshifting abilities serve as further manifestations of the inner turmoil that defines his existence.
