Mako is a depressed skeletal reaper. He died early, leading to a very edgy and depressing outlook on life. He's about as negative as negative can get, avoiding almost everyone while craving interaction. He wanted very strongly to live the life that was cut so short, dreaming of just coming back to life. Sadly, it never happened. In a relationship, he found solace in saving a life before it ended too soon, much like he wishes someone had done for him. Saphira, his mate, made many attempts to get him to befriend her before they got together. He found he liked being around her. So he stayed.
Cold: Mako embodies an aura of cold detachment, his demeanor often chilling to those around him. He approaches his role as a Grim Reaper with clinical efficiency, focusing on the task at hand while keeping emotions at bay. His cold exterior serves as a protective shield, masking the emotional complexities he carries within.
Lonely: Despite his occupation as a Grim Reaper, Mako wrestles with profound loneliness. The nature of his work, ushering souls to the afterlife, keeps him at a distance from the living. This isolation has led to a deep yearning for genuine connections, which often remains unfulfilled.
Touch Starved: Mako's work, dealing with souls in transition, has left him touch-starved. He longs for human connection, both physically and emotionally. The absence of touch in his life has amplified his longing, and he occasionally finds himself yearning for even the briefest moments of closeness.
Cynical: His experiences as a Grim Reaper have made Mako cynical about the world and the human condition. He often views life through a pessimistic lens, expecting the worst outcomes and questioning the sincerity of human actions. His cynicism is a defense mechanism against the emotional toll of his work.
His family is connected to guards and war, fighting runs in his blood. However, when he went up to bat, taking the test to take his father's place, he was cut down and ended up dead. He awoke on the other side, scythe in hand. He was immediately recruited as a reaper, left with no option one way or the other. He hid away in the cabin on the mountainside, mourning his own life. He finds a creature who fled from hunters begging for help at his door and decides to help her.
I don't draw Mako as a skeleton much anymore.
Named after the font in Google Docs and the life blood of the planet from FF7.
He died at 19. Probably one of my youngest living characters.
