ASCEND

The inspiration behind the design is Connections. Connection is a very special element between two or more things which helps to compliment each other. The heritage connection between our country Malaysia and Batik has made the encouragement of teachers wearing batik clothing to school on Thursdays. The design represent the connection between lines, dots and grids. These three design elements look more pleasant when they are connected. The main element in the design, staircase is the connection between two levels.

Career matters the most to millennials. Millennials are ambitious to succeed in their professional life. In order to succeed in a project, or expecting a promotion at work, everyone should start their journey by putting effort as a saying goes ‘ every success starts with a single step’. By highlighting the first step to success, staircase element is used as the main element in the pattern. Climbing stairs is the visual representation of levelling up. Millennials prioritize the experience of wearing the clothing. In order to maximize the experience, Millennials loves wearing mix and match patterns instead of one whole pattern all over the clothing.

The architectural element that fused in this design a set of staircases. Stairs symbolize power. Those at top often regarded as solid and strong. Staircase component is a visual image of climbing the milestones to achieve goal. Staircase is a bridge that connects the bottom floor and next floor as it can metaphorically connect individuals. Stairs also represents enlightenment. When an individual hits the next level, stairs serve as a good instrument to reflect that. The design element is a mix of geometrical shape and radial form. A rectilinear design approach using horizontal, vertical and inclined lines on grid. A radial design approach using staircase component with various angle that branch out from a central point. This combination of architectural elements seems rhythmically soothing.

This motif is unprecedented in the current market because it is unique. There is various line thickness used in this design to showcase the special features with are connected to each other. Unique because the design is the combination of 2D and 3D patterns which compliments each other so well. The motif is creative as it is not the usual layout of grids with a solid fill, instead there is geometric patterns cooperated which make them to stand out. The perspective of the staircase is something different with an angle from upper stairs to lower stairs.

This motif is able to appeal both domestically and globally because it is a minimalistic design. These days, minimalism seems to be the universal appeal. Clean and centered is the minimum style that attracts people's attention to significant feature of the design, which is the highlight of the motif. The motif can reach globally as it is a responsive design. Responsive design has a reliable element that is easy to figure out and use. The layout is user-friendly, so people from any region across the world can understand and relate to it.
