Nowadays, Malaysian Batik has begun to be forgotten in the community. As we have a limited choice in terms of design and pattern of the batik itself that does not appeal to the younger generation. So we must change the perception of the millennial towards Malaysian Batik by giving it a new design that suits all genders, ages, and will not be forgotten by times.

Typical batik design usually consists of floral elements and has a large pattern. Some of us may like it and some of may don’t. Besides, some of the old batik design usually has a same pattern that can look boring and does not appeal to the younger generation. From my understanding and observation, millennial nowadays is more interested in minimalistic design. Goes by the themed “Aspirana Millennia'', the design idea for my ‘batik’ is SECTION. Section is the most interesting part in architectural drawing. Sections may show the entire building, or may focus on a particular component, junction or assembly. The design idea for this batik was derived from the section of Malaysian Traditional House, but in an abstract form to create a unique design.

Goes by the name ‘The Wonder Of Life Batik’, the design consists of several cuts of buildings which shows the people living in it to make it livelier. Next, human figures and trees are infused into the design. These figures act as a clear and simple indicator of the proportions of a space. Apart from that, the design elements of the batik are lines and repetition to give a minimalistic feel to it. Apart from that, this design also is suitable to be worn by both genders, whether they are young or old as their daily choice.

I hope with the rebranding of our Malaysian Batik design will attract more people to choose batik as their main choice whether in fashion or as home decoration as well as other products. May the glory days of the Malaysian Batik returns and be well known in Malaysia and also overseas.
