How is batik distinctive from different cloths? It is created in a manner that it has to undergo the delicate and repeated process of waxing, dyeing and boiling. As wax fills in as a colour blocker in the colouring cycle, it will be utilized to cover every part of the fabric that would not like to be stained with colors. Proof of early batik has been found in the Middle East, Egypt, Peru, Japan, East Turkistan, Europe through India, and China (Central Asia) 2000 years prior. Regardless of its vague starting points, batik arrived at its highest aesthetic expression in South East Asia, especially in Indonesia and Malaysia.

Inspired by the traditional and organic motif of Bunga Raya batik that personifies as Malaysia's national flower, giving it more of a specific identity, it is called Hibiscus Rosa-Sinensis. The hibiscus doesn't only represent Malaysia, but the flower has so much value and meaning. Each petal reflects a commandment that is the Rukun Negara with the vibrant red that is symbolizing courage, life, and the rapid growth of Malaysians.

The concept of minimalist came to mind because of the theme ""Aspirana Millennia'' which we think would convey something that would inspire the millennials, and going into the topic of the millennial, what would the millennial like to see or a modern design of batik. That would be the reason why we chose the minimalist look of a batik motif.

The flower has been transformed into a more geometrical motif. Where each curve of the flower has been replaced with lines. The petals have been separated from the pistil to show a more geometrical effect and the identity of each commandment. As from what has been seen on the motif, there is repetitive line weight on the triangular shape elements. It portrays the basic architectural skill of showing depth. As a bonus, the 5 petals that have been separated, give an asymmetry aspect to the flower creating a more dynamic impact towards the motif. The leaves that surround the flower are lined thinly to emphasize the flower itself, just like the actual plant when the red pops from the surrounding greenery.
