The basic pattern is inspired by the architecture element – Porosity. Porosity in architecture is the user able to extend sight and places beyond. In this Batik pattern design, the pattern reflects the boundary between traditional batik craft and the enrolment of young generation should be porous, permeable and redefined. The ideation of pores in the mass of a building to allow access of light & air is applied here. Pores in the pattern is represent by circles to ensure the pattern looks similar from far, near or from the user ‘s perspective. The contrast between the solid (black) and voids (white) well demonstrates the overall porosity of the pattern. Those curve lines are intentionally to create a fluid pattern design to mimic our physical body posture. Besides that, the pattern creates interesting sight effect where the user interacts visually at different scales. This is due to the use of line weight from thick to thin that creates rhythm in the pattern. In conclusion, the pattern consists of a linear repetition of individual components in varying scales to generate infinitely pattern.
