The wonton has existed centuries long ago. It was originally from China, and it became one of Malaysian heritage dish after the Chinese populated in Malaysia years before Independence. The subject was chosen for the pattern because it has unique meaning besides being part of Malaysian heritage. The wonton exists in many forms of geometrical shape during the process of making it and once finished, it will be fried, steam or put in broth. It is not only telling the story a food but how to realize the pattern into deep meaning effectively by experiencing the chronology of the food process. Wonton is adaptable food where it could be serve as the main dish as it is serve with noodle or serve as a snack where it is deep fried.

The principle that is mainly applied to the pattern is Datum which is the continuous line that was created vertically and horizontally by combining shapes and colours scheme. The geometry-shape was simplified by the wonton character. The yellow as light tone creates vertical lines to emphasize the pattern main structure while the brown creates horizontal lines at the bottom to show the depth in the pattern. The red colour as mid-tone forming hidden shapes that intersect between the lines. The narration by colours and shapes is to keep the balance and its flow where it also to represents cooperation and unity between different status.

The organization that justifies the pattern most is Clustered by the composition of various shapes that create Proximity. The shape overlaps and intersects between each other to create visual illusion for the audience. The purpose is to exaggerate the character expression of the subject matter which is Won Ton. The multi-shape also acts as projections of wonton in different form during the process of making it and after it was cooked in different ways.

The colour scheme that was used is based on the Chinese New Year festival which is Bright Yellow to symbolize the grand of celebrating the festival. To show how much they are committed to celebrating the festival as an annual event and region beliefs. The red is represented as fortune and happiness in their beliefs. They respect the colour of red as it is forbidden to wear it on a funeral. The colour of the darker red is to support the other as the colour of the shadow. In deeper meaning, to represent a deeper love in the community.

To infuse the Malaysian Chinese heritage into Batik which is Malaysian proud traditional decorated fabric is a way to connect the variety of culture in Malaysia that are bond into one as a country even with different status. Our younger generation should have an early exposure to preserve our heritage for a longer period. Our heritage symbolizes the culture before and it tells the story of our ancestor’s social and cultural environments. The hope for the younger generation is to keep our heritage as pride and representative in our culture.
