The title of my batik design for this competition is ‘The Progressive Flower’. The basic idea behind my design is geometrical pattern. Geometrical design exist since the start of civilization, it is the core of architectural creativity since then till now. Normally, when we talk about geometrical pattern it appears on everything especially Songket clothing and building finishes. Building finishes is so important for an architecture as it is to make a building look beautiful. So, I apply this concept of bulding architecture pattern into a batik fabric design. The process of producing a batik is so unique with different methods, that is why the Batik has such high value in the clothing industry. This Batik design is being applied from the geometrical concept, the design itself is about floral in a theme of the ‘Bunga Kemboja’. It is also a combination of Islamic and English geometrical pattern. As you can see from the design, you can see the concept of stars and flower as used in the Islamic and English geometrical design respectively. Furthermore, the design is created to be seen as it is moving. I applied this concept due to the factors that nowadays the world is constantly progressing. Millenials are key to the evolution of the nation. They are now the most important people in a country because they are the bridge to modernization. In simplicity of my design, the concept is about flowers representing individuals moving in towards something greater in life as presented in the motion design in the batik pattern.
