The mystery under the sea and above the sky is the inspiration behind this design as the wonder of the undiscovered ocean and galaxy gives the human race the urge to conquer the unseen world. As 95 percent of the undiscovered ocean and 73 per cent of the galaxy remain mysterious, the imagination of mythical beings, including the mermaid in the ocean and the alien in space, continues to exist in human minds.
The millennial generation wants to keep aspects of their childhood with them into adulthood including mystical creatures such as mermaids, aliens, and fairies. This is because of their desire to identify the supernatural and amazing beings who exist in the unknown realm, when they have not yet had the opportunity to see and meet them on their own.
Ypulse survey reported that 70 per cent of 18-33-year-olds love to do things that briefly make them forget their adults and 75 per cent agree they never want to lose their inner-kid selves. As a result, they like to search for ways to regain the mystical feeling of their youth, as we can see the rise of magical influence of today's goods, utilities and even food. So, this design patterns are to represent the magic of the millennial's youth.
The design combining points and lines to produce the elements of the rosette nebula in the galaxy and the abstract of sea creatures in the ocean. The arrangement of points generates unifying movement of the repeated modified points creating the abstract pattern of the sea creatures in the ocean. Meanwhile, the combination of lines and dots that representing the stars creates a rose pattern representing the unseen world of the galaxies. Thus, the union of the architectural elements in the batik design creates the harmony of the ocean and the galaxy.
This motive brings the originality of the design by implements the idea of constellation which creates an illusion concept. A fantasy / creative design could be created when the motive is being repeated continuously in an orderly pattern or randomly. Furthermore, this design still hold the principle of batik which can be a representative to Malaysia due to the concept of under the sea and above the sky which creates an amazing design for millennial generation.
The design itself could be unpresented in current market due to its unique characteristic of features which creates a desire pattern that is favoured by millennial’s generation. This give the motive to be more appeal domestically and globally by producing variety of design of fantasy including flora and fauna.
