Batik is an ancient traditional textile art that has been carried forward for thousand of years. Batik represent Melayu culture especially in Indonesia and Malaysia. It contains cultural significance in the daily traditional activities, and contains symbolism of the culture.

Batik has so many different meaning from the pattern that has drawn on the clothes surface by the wax, as it has a different story behind. Each area would have their own preferences and a part of their culture embedded into the piece of cloth and other surfaces like home furnishing and stationery.

Jagad is Hindu / Sanskrit Indian popular masculine given name which literally means as ‘attendant universe’. And Aikyam is also Sanskrit language in Hindu known as unity and harmony. Batik Jagad Aikyam has become visual representation of the diversity that found throughout the world that intermixed culture, religion, race and language but still in a harmony of differences.

Patterns are inspired by the human living and human nature in this world as it has a norm inside, including the preferences and the story behind, which means human live in a diversity but have to live in the track, and respect others in order to create a harmony between human being and human mankind. Human do not live for themselves, but they also live for their family, environment, society, and God who created them.

Batik Jagad Aikyam using the design elements in it and enhance the design elements into a story that related with human living in the world. The main pattern using wheel symbol as represent of ‘rodha urip’ in Javanese language, means wheel of life. The colours used are limited to black, brown dust and sogan (brown toned palette) represent a diversity of colour but still in a harmony. Variations in colour intensity also create an illusion of depth, represent that quarter life have so many lessons in it. Batik Jagad Aikyam take possession of geometric design inside, including squares, circles and pentagonic. A single element also be chosen and create a repetitive pattern that will bring clear sense of unity, consistency, and cohesiveness.
