The theme “Aspirana Millennia” is to allow a wider girth of what excites the younger generation nowadays. Batik is an equilibrium achieved through both art and craft which are becoming more popular and well known among artists all over the world as a wonderfully creative and innovative medium. Batik is an Indonesian technique of wax-resist dyeing applied to the whole cloth. The art of decorating cloth using wax and dye had been practised for decades in many continents over the world ranges from China, India, South America Europe and even Japan. In Java, an island in Indonesia, batik is made as part of an ancient tradition since then. The word batik originated from Javanese word “tik” which means to dot. Batik is works as both verb and noun too.

Batik is usually made on a fabric surface but it’s technique can be used on paper, wood and leather as well. It is made either by drawing dots and lines of resist with a spouted tool called a canting. The initial design idea concept comes from prism geometrical shapes in blue shades as the architectural elements assembled together to multiple different kind of shapes and forms. The design then arranged in a repetitive manner to form different kind of motives such as the flower, bushes and hexagonal building design. The blue shades was chosen due to it is a very calm colour which is able to represent the people in Malaysia along with some futuristic concept which suits the millennials nowadays. After some careful consideration and through some inspiration during the design process, the architectural element chosen was changed into ideas of using stained glass design and properties. A futuristic free form of building and surrounding was made by using ordering principle and design principle through colour and arrangement. Colour chosen in the design was blue and orange with different hue, saturation and values to emphasize on its form and contrast.

On the other hand, This combination also tries to fit into the conceptual of millennials nowadays likes contrast and interesting combination of colour principle which soothes the eyes and creating an exciting experience at the same time as the application of colour principle which is used in design industry such as logo design, movie and entertainment. The design is further enhances by developing into a fixed Malaysia iconic buildings silhouette such as the Petronas Twin Tower, Sultan Abdul Samad Building, KLIA and Kuala Lumpur tower. This is because this will be able to emphasize more on the architectural elements and idea on the design and origin in Malaysia will be able to showcased through it.

This is also to show to the millennials the importance of patriotism and the historical architecture which standing still through ages and had witnessed the historical event over the ages. The straight line of stained glass concept on the architecture silhouette is also going to be an interesting elements in attracting the attention of millennials into exploring about batik clothing.
