Batik is an old art and also a craft. The countries in South East Asia, especially Malaysia and Indonesia had expressed the aesthetic of batik using technique of wax-resist dyeing on the whole cloth. In Malaysia, Kelantan, Pahang and Terengganu is well known for the traditional procedure in producing Batik. The pattern and motif of fabric together with the characteristic of the long lasting colour Batik has been widely used on multiple items, such as murals, wall hangings, scarves and mostly used on cloth fabric. Generally, there are few types of tools that used to form the shape and pattern of Batik. Besides cantings, wood block is the traditional tools that widely utilized. However, the fine details and curvy shape is difficult to cut in wood. Copper method is used since the bend shape and driven edgewise be built up in strips of brass or copper of the flat surface of the block.
In my design, the architecture elements are applied. Repetition of arrows pointing towards the central of block is used to form a high rise building in Malaysia, which is the Tower of Kuala Lumpur. The distance between the strips is the same as it indicates that our life should be similar to the concept of strips in which we should go forward steps by steps and gradually doing our best and focus to the current goals. This value should be leant by all the citizen in Malaysia in order to achieve success with full of integrity. This is because the citizen do not achieve their target through illegal pathway. The thickness of the strips is increasing as moving toward the center of block means that the progression of the economy of the nation is rapidly increasing. Besides that, the strips that located at the both sides of the Kuala Lumpur Tower reflect prosperity of nation in term of building and architecture. At the center of the block, the branches of tree are used to show the green concept of building in architecture. The projected plants indicate the sustainable development of nation is started to be widely recognized and appreciated for the future generations. The green concept in building begin to be the new wave and trend in the world of architecture as this concept can build more buildings to accommodate the increasing demand of human and meanwhile maintain the beauty of nature. Next, the Kuala Lumpur Tower is pointing towards the center of block which with the tree plan means that our country is moving toward the green and sustainable development. Sustainable development is important because there will be no lost of balance between the environment aspects and development of nation so that the city in Malaysia is developed in a clean and healthy environment. The citizen in Malaysia will have a healthier body to service the country.
