KENCANA
Aspirana Millenia. Aspirana gives the meaning of aspiration and strong desire whilst Millenia gives the meaning of the millennial generation who were born between 1980-2000.
There are a few special characteristics that we can see from the millennial generation such as
good in the social networking world, tend to be tolerant of differences and tend to be confident. In other words, the millennial generation is the modern and bold kind of generation that will become the future for our world. Kencana is designed to be the symbolism for this generation.
As the motto goes GAHARA.RESET.REBORN. The founder of GAHARA himself is an architect-turned artist from a family of batik makers. He spent his childhood watching and working with the artisans in the local Kelantan community. Thus, he is a person that really appreciates the culture of Melayu and he managed to set a high standard of batik textile through his company.
To show an appreciation towards the malay culture, Kencana is inspired by PucuK Rebung. Pucuk Rebung is one of the types from malay crafting arts or also known as seni ukir. There are a lot of crafting arts designs such as geometrical patterns, floral patterns and so on. Pucuk Rebung is chosen because of the meaning behind it. Pucuk Rebung sends the message that youth are the nation builders. Pucuk Rebung symbolises youth which is complementing the millennial generation theme from the competition. Kencana is designed to be a batik print that has a modern twist on it and also being incorporated with a design that delivers the message of ‘we need to preserve our culture’.
What is kencana ? Kencana is a word from the classical malay language (bahasa melayu klasik). Kencana is the synonym for gold (emas). The word Kencana symbolises something that is really valuable. In this case, Kencana symbolises the valuable malay culture that we need to preserve. On top of that, Kencana/gold is also the royal colour for malay people and it is significant with the GAHARA concept which is also related to royalty. Gold is also a symbolism of prestige, influence and powerful spirit which are the suitable elements that suit with the inspiration of Pucuk Rebung.
