The requirements of this batik competition is to implement architectural elements and geometrical elements to represent the aspiring millenials. Based on our batik pattern proposal, we decided to implement the butterfly roof outline and the aerial view of a skyscraper. There are several reasons as to why we choose these elements to incorporate in our batik pattern. The butterfly roof is to represent and showcase our eagerness to soar and spread our wings in order to achieve greater things in life. Butterfly roofs are self – explanatory as the form itself resembles the butterflies’ wings. As for the aerial view of the skyscraper is to show that millennials can climb high and dream big in life. As if to show that the sky is our only limit. We carefully thought out the design process for this batik pattern. Our target of market are millennials. We believe that this pattern is something that most millennials would seek and wear as it really showcases our interests, which are simplicity and clean designs. The design elements that we’ve decided to incorporate in our batik pattern are rhythm and repetition. As it can be clearly seen in the batik pattern design, that the pattern of the butterfly roof is being added repeatedly, forming a diamond – like shape. Whereas the skyscraper elements is being incorporated in the middle of the batik pattern in a spiraling manner. This is to show the rhythm elements on the batik pattern design.
