BATIK DESIGN CONCEPT (PATH)

As we know, Batik is one of the unique Malaysia Art. Batik allowed the designer to express their design in many ways. The design is flexible as we can put various shape and have many ways to print it on the canvas. As a Malaysian, it supposed to be our responsibility to try to exposed it all around the globe.

As we know, COVID-19 pandemic has changed the world we know today and keep getting more worst. Many country reach millions of death tolls daily which create a blackspot in the Human History. According to the WHO (World Health Organization), the vaccine is still far ahead to be finish, many experiments have to be done. The really reason why this pandemic is getting worst is the ignorant of the people to take it seriously.Â

Moving on to the concept of my BATIK design which is Path. The design shows the effect of a family choice during the Covid pandemic. During the Covid event, there are many ways a family can turn into depends on the family leader decision. If the group leader chooses the correct path, the family will get most of the positive reward. For example, during this Covid pandemic, wearing mask is really crucial as it can mostly prevent our family to receive Covid 19 from the people surround us when going to crowded places. But, if the family leader chooses the opposite decision, the whole family will receive the concusses and would mostly receive the negative effect to the family.

The design shape that I used, such as Triangle in the middle which upside and downside which represent a man and a woman. The smaller triangle inside the large triangle represents a boy and a girl. So, when combine all the triangle it will represent a family. The three layers inside the triangle shows three layers of age. The young age, the middle age and the elder's age. As we all know, Covid 19 does not choose age to spread. That is why all layers need to contribute to cut of the Covid chain. Next shape I used in this design is the leaf shape on each corner, this is the represent life. A healthy plant usually has their leaf look solid and straight up, the opposite of its, the plant that the not get enough nutrients, not get enough water or sunlight, usually have their leaf brown in color, the leaf headed down to the earth, usually the sign it will drop to the earth. A death of a living thing.

The element I tried to show inside the design is contrast, where I want to show the different effect between positive and negative choices. The negative choice is mirror of the positive choice. The upper part represent the positive effect and we can see the triangle pointing up which usually a good sign, For the down part are the opposite of the positive effect, which is negative impact. I recommend to different both of the part with different color.
