If you want a wired, four-driver hybrid IEM with deep bass and rotatable ear cups for music production, choose BASN Metalen 4; if you need zero-latency wireless monitoring with an integrated microphone and transmitter clip for live performance or studio isolation, choose Depusheng T9-2.
• BASN Metalen 4: Delivers exceptional audio detail with its hybrid 2BA+2DD driver setup and features rotatable MMCX connectors, but requires a physical cable connection to your device.
• Depusheng T9-2: Offers true freedom of movement with wireless RF technology and built-in condenser mic pickup, yet relies on battery power and has a plastic build rather than metal.
• Best for BASN Metalen 4: Musicians who prioritize absolute sound fidelity, heavy bass response, and wired stability during long sessions.
• Best for Depusheng T9-2: Performers and vocalists who need to move around the stage or studio without being tethered by wires while needing real-time self-monitoring.
The BASN Metalen 4 is engineered specifically for the audiophile musician who refuses to compromise on sound quality. At its core lies a sophisticated hybrid driver configuration featuring two balanced armature drivers paired with two dynamic drivers per earbud. This design choice isn't just about having more parts; it creates a distinct sonic signature where the dynamic drivers handle the low frequencies with fast attack and decay, delivering the heavy, impressive bass that drummers and bassists crave, while the balanced armatures take care of the mids and highs to ensure every nuance of a guitar solo or vocal harmony remains crystal clear. If you are looking for a gaming headset for music production or a serious tool for mixing, this four-driver system provides a wide soundstage and low distortion that single-driver units simply cannot match.
The physical design reinforces its role as a professional instrument accessory. The housing is crafted from CNC-milled metal in a matte gray finish, giving it a durable, premium feel that withstands the rigors of touring or frequent gigging. A standout feature for any musician dealing with tangled cables is the swift rotation connector. The standard MMCX interface allows the earbuds to rotate, which means the cables can lay flat against the neck rather than digging into the ears when you turn your head. This ergonomic touch is crucial for long practice sessions or extended recording takes. Furthermore, the package includes two distinct cables: a silver-plated OFC cable for pure, bright audio fidelity and a fiber cable with an inline microphone. This dual-cable approach lets you switch between critical listening and speaking functions without changing the earphones themselves.

However, this product is not for everyone. Because it is a strictly wired solution using a 3.5mm jack, you are tethered to your mixer, phone, or audio interface. If your workflow demands total mobility or if you perform on a large stage where cable length becomes a hazard, the Metalen 4 will feel restrictive. Additionally, the focus on passive noise isolation means you rely entirely on the fit of the included memory foam and silicone tips to block out ambient noise, rather than active electronic cancellation. You should buy this if you value acoustic purity and detailed frequency response over wireless convenience. Skip it if you need to sing freely across a room or if your audio source does not have a compatible analog output.
The Depusheng T9-2 addresses a completely different set of needs: the necessity for untethered monitoring and vocal integration. This is a wireless in-ear monitor system designed for the performer who needs to hear their own voice or instrument clearly without the drag of a wire. Its defining characteristic is the ultra-low latency transmission technology. In a live setting, even a fraction of a second of delay can throw off a singer's timing or a guitarist's rhythm. The T9-2 ensures virtually no delay, allowing you to hear your performance in real time. This makes it an ideal best with microphone earphones for music production scenarios where the artist needs to track vocals or play instruments while moving around the studio or stage.
The system consists of a receiver unit that connects to your ears and a transmitter clip-on unit. The transmitter features a high-sensitivity condenser microphone capable of capturing the sound of brass instruments like trumpets or trombones, as well as vocals, with clarity up to 50 meters away. This level of pickup sensitivity is rare in consumer-grade wireless gear and positions the T9-2 as a serious tool for band exercises, concerts, and DJ performances. The wireless RF connectivity eliminates the tripping hazards associated with long cables, making it safer and more comfortable for energetic performers. The inclusion of active noise cancellation further enhances the monitoring experience by digitally filtering out background noise, ensuring that what you hear is purely your mix.
That said, the trade-offs involve power management and build material. Unlike the all-metal construction of the Metalen 4, the T9-2 utilizes a plastic enclosure, which feels less rugged but keeps the weight down. More critically, this is a battery-dependent system. You must remember to charge the device before every session, and unlike the wired option, you cannot use it indefinitely without worrying about battery drain. It is perfect for those who need to sing or play with a wireless mic attached, but if you prefer a simple, always-ready wired connection without charging cycles, this might add too much complexity to your routine.
• Best for raw audio fidelity and detail → BASN Metalen 4: The hybrid 2BA+2DD driver array offers a frequency range of 16 Hz to 25,000 Hz with superior detail retrieval compared to the single-driver wireless approach.
• Best for wireless freedom and mobility → Depusheng T9-2: The RF wireless technology allows for over 50 meters of transmission distance, letting you roam the stage or studio without cable constraints.
• Best for built-in microphone functionality → Depusheng T9-2: It comes with a dedicated high-sensitivity condenser mic for the transmitter, whereas the BASN requires a separate cable with an inline mic for voice control.
• Best for durability and metal construction → BASN Metalen 4: The CNC-carved metal body is designed for longevity and resistance, contrasting with the plastic build of the wireless system.
• Best for rotatable cable management → BASN Metalen 4: The rotatable MMCX connectors prevent cable strain and improve comfort during head movements, a feature absent in fixed wireless receivers.
• Best for zero-latency vocal monitoring → Depusheng T9-2: Specifically engineered for real-time voice feedback without delay, essential for singers and wind instrument players.
• Best for passive isolation enthusiasts → BASN Metalen 4: Relies on physical fit and noise isolation materials for a clean signal path without electronic interference.
• Best for active noise suppression → Depusheng T9-2: Utilizes active noise cancellation technology to electronically reduce ambient sound.
If I were building a setup specifically for focused music production where sound accuracy is paramount, I would reach for the BASN Metalen 4. The combination of four drivers and the ability to swap between a high-fidelity silver-plated cable and a microphone-equipped fiber cable gives me the versatility to monitor mixes critically and speak to engineers without changing hardware. The rotatable ear cups alone solve a major pain point for musicians wearing headphones for hours. However, if my work involves live singing or playing brass instruments where I need to move freely, the Depusheng T9-2 becomes the only logical choice due to its wireless capability and built-in condenser mic. Ultimately, for a stationary, high-detail listening environment, the BASN Metalen 4 wins on pure audio engineering, while the Depusheng T9-2 wins on performance utility.
Yes, both work well for this, but the BASN Metalen 4 offers superior passive isolation and deeper bass response (16 Hz–25 kHz) which helps punch through the kit, while the Depusheng T9-2 allows for wireless movement if you need to stand up during practice.
No, the package includes two complete 4.9ft cables: one silver-plated OFC cable for pure audio and one fiber cable with an inline microphone for calls and voice control.
The system provides an average battery life of approximately 6 hours, with some sources indicating up to 8 hours once fully charged, requiring about 1 hour to recharge.
Absolutely, the transmitter features a high-sensitivity condenser microphone designed to capture the sound of various instruments, including brass like trumpets, horns, and trombones.
