If you want comfortable neckband headphones for motorcycle riding that stay put in high winds with a wired, zero-latency connection, choose BASN Bmaster; if you need the best sweatproof earbuds for motorcycle commuting with active noise cancellation and wireless freedom, choose Mackie MP-20TWS. These two products solve entirely different problems, and picking the wrong one will leave you either tangled in cables or struggling to hear your engine over road noise. I have analyzed the specifications of both units to help you decide which audio tool fits your specific riding style and listening environment.
• BASN Bmaster: Its biggest strength is the secure, custom-fit memory wire design paired with hybrid triple drivers for studio-quality sound isolation; its trade-off is the lack of Bluetooth connectivity, requiring a physical cable for all audio.
• Mackie MP-20TWS: Its biggest strength is true wireless convenience with Bluetooth 5.2 and active noise cancelling that blocks out wind and traffic; its trade-off is the reliance on battery life and the potential for earbuds to dislodge during extreme vibration compared to an over-the-ear fit.
• Who it's for: The BASN Bmaster is built for musicians and riders who prioritize absolute sound fidelity and security over wireless ease, while the Mackie MP-20TWS is designed for commuters who want modern features like touch controls and long battery life without any wires.
The BASN Bmaster is engineered specifically for people who need their audio gear to function as a reliable extension of their senses, rather than just a convenient gadget. This is not a standard pair of earbuds; it is a professional-grade in-ear monitor system. The defining feature here is the flexible over-the-ear memory wire. When you bend this wire to match the shape of your ear, the earbuds lock into place with a level of security that most true wireless designs simply cannot match. For a motorcyclist, this is critical. The constant rush of air at highway speeds can knock lightweight earbuds loose, but the memory wire ensures the unit stays exactly where you put it, keeping the audio intimate and the ears protected from the elements.
Sound quality is the second pillar of why this device exists. The BASN Bmaster utilizes a hybrid triple-driver setup, combining a 10mm beryllium dynamic driver for low frequencies with balanced armature drivers for mids and highs. This configuration allows the bass to be deep and explosive without muddying the vocals, while the highs remain crystal clear. The product data indicates a sound isolation capability of up to 37 dB, achieved through the use of memory foam ear tips. This passive isolation is vital for riders who need to hear fine details in their music or monitoring feeds without cranking the volume to dangerous levels to overcome wind roar.

However, this product demands a specific lifestyle. You must be willing to carry a cable. The BASN Bmaster connects via a detachable MMCX cable with a standard 3.5 mm jack. There is no Bluetooth, no charging case, and no wireless streaming. If your primary goal is to connect to your phone instantly while parked or if you hate managing wires that can snag on handlebars or gloves, this is not the right choice. It is also worth noting that the package includes a wide variety of ear tip sizes—silicone and memory foam—to ensure a perfect seal, but achieving that seal requires patience and adjustment. It is a tool for those who value performance and stability over the convenience of "popping them out of the case" and going.
The Mackie MP-20TWS represents the modern approach to personal audio, prioritizing freedom and advanced technology. As a true wireless solution, it removes the tangle of cables entirely, which is a massive benefit for anyone moving around, whether you are parking your bike, taking off your helmet, or just walking through a busy city. The core appeal here is the combination of Bluetooth 5.2 and Hybrid Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). While the BASN relies on physical seals to block noise, the MP-20TWS actively listens to your environment and cancels out low-frequency droning sounds, such as the hum of an engine or the rush of wind, using three microphones per side. This makes it a strong contender for the rider who wants to immerse themselves in their playlist regardless of how loud the street gets.
Battery life is another area where the Mackie shines for the daily commuter. The earbuds offer over 13 hours of continuous playback on a single charge, and the included charging case provides an additional 40+ hours. This means you can ride for days without hunting for a USB-C charger. The IPX4 waterproof rating also suggests durability against sweat and light rain, which is essential for motorcycle travel where weather conditions change rapidly. The capacitive touch controls allow you to manage calls, skip tracks, or activate Siri and Google Assistant without fumbling with buttons or pulling out your phone, adding a layer of safety by keeping your hands on the bars.
That said, there are inherent trade-offs to the true wireless form factor. Because these earbuds sit inside the ear canal without an over-the-ear retention hook, they rely solely on the friction of the silicone tips to stay in place. In extremely high-wind scenarios or on rough terrain, there is a higher risk of them becoming dislodged compared to a wired, over-ear model. Additionally, the ANC feature consumes power, meaning you are trading some battery efficiency for noise reduction. If you are someone who needs to know exactly what is happening around you—a key safety concern for motorcyclists—you might find the active noise cancelling too isolating, though the transparency of the call quality remains high thanks to the dedicated microphones.
• Best for secure fit in high winds → BASN Bmaster: The over-the-ear memory wire physically locks the device to your head, making it virtually impossible to lose during a ride, whereas the Mackie relies on ear-tip friction alone.
• Best for wireless freedom and convenience → Mackie MP-20TWS: With Bluetooth 5.2 and no cables, you can easily transition between riding, working, and socializing without untangling wires.
• Best for sound isolation without batteries → BASN Bmaster: Its 37 dB passive isolation works constantly without draining power, ensuring you never run out of juice mid-ride.
• Best for active noise cancellation → Mackie MP-20TWS: Only the Mackie offers electronic noise cancelling to suppress engine drone and wind noise, which passive isolation alone cannot fully eliminate.
• Best for long-term battery usage → Mackie MP-20TWS: With 13+ hours on the buds and 40+ more in the case, you get multi-day autonomy that the wired BASN does not require.
• Best for audio fidelity and customization → BASN Bmaster: The hybrid triple-driver system with 12 pairs of included ear tips allows for a highly tailored acoustic experience that general consumer earbuds often miss.
• Best for durability against elements → Tie: Both offer water resistance (Mackie has IPX4, BASN uses sealed memory foam), but the BASN's wired nature eliminates the risk of internal moisture damage to electronics.
• Best for call quality in motion → Mackie MP-20TWS: The three-microphone array per earbud is specifically tuned for optimal voice clarity and noise rejection during phone calls on the go.
I would buy the Mackie MP-20TWS for my own daily motorcycle commute. The convenience of being completely wireless, combined with the active noise cancellation, makes the ride significantly more enjoyable and less fatiguing. I do not want to worry about a cable getting caught on my jacket zipper or helmet strap, and the ability to answer calls with a simple tap is a safety feature I value. However, if I were a musician needing to monitor a live set or a rider who prioritizes a rock-solid fit above all else, I would switch back to the BASN Bmaster immediately. For the average rider looking for the best balance of comfort, tech, and sound, the Mackie is the superior choice for the road.
Yes, but the best choice depends on your priority. The BASN Bmaster offers a more secure fit for high-speed riding due to its over-ear memory wire, while the Mackie MP-20TWS provides better noise isolation through active cancellation for a smoother ride.
No, the BASN Bmaster comes with a detachable silver-plated MMCX cable that includes a remote and microphone. You can also purchase third-party MMCX cables if you wish to customize the length or material later.
The Mackie earbuds provide over 13 hours of playback on a single charge, and the charging case adds another 40+ hours, giving you a total of over 50 hours of listening time before you need to plug into a power source.
While the BASN Bmaster blocks sound passively with memory foam and a tight seal, the Mackie MP-20TWS actively fights wind and engine noise with its Hybrid Active Noise Cancelling system, which many users find more effective for long-distance commuting.
