PATRICK
Born in Kinshasa and raised in Gombe, Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of Congo), Lawson Ifanga Patrick embodies the rich musical heritage of his homeland. Coming from a musical family, he was immersed in traditional sounds from an early age, thanks to his parents’ passion for music. His enthusiasm blossomed further while living with his uncle, a traditional musician himself. Self-taught, Lawson began his journey with the djembe before exploring the harmonica, bass, and guitar. He later honed his skills at school, mastering the piano and music theory.
Throughout his career, he has collaborated with notable groups, including Wenge Preppy, and currently manages live bands across the city while venturing into music production. Lawson is dedicated to redefining African music, aiming to blend diverse cultures and influences to create a unique sound that resonates across borders—timeless music that honour’sS tradition while innovating for the future.
