Basic VLSI Design by Douglas A. Pucknell and Kamran Eshraghian
Basic VLSI Design is a classic textbook that introduces the principles and techniques of very large scale integration (VLSI) design. It was first published in 1985 by Prentice Hall and has been revised and updated several times since then. The third edition, published in 1994, covers nMOS, CMOS, BiCMOS and GaAs technologies, as well as design rules, layout, stick diagrams, symbolic representation, circuit simulation, testing and fabrication.
The authors of the book are Douglas A. Pucknell and Kamran Eshraghian, who are both experts in the field of VLSI design. Douglas A. Pucknell is a professor emeritus at the University of Adelaide in Australia, where he taught courses on digital systems and VLSI design for over 30 years. He has also authored or co-authored several other books on VLSI design, such as Fundamentals of Digital Logic Design and Essentials of VLSI Circuits and Systems. Kamran Eshraghian is a professor at Edith Cowan University in Australia, where he is the director of the Electron Science Research Institute. He is also the founder and president of Eshraghian Laboratories Pty Ltd, a company that provides consulting and training services on VLSI design. He has been involved in many pioneering projects on VLSI design, such as the world's first CMOS microprocessor chip and the world's first GaAs microprocessor chip.
