What's a community centre?
For us, this is a centre that everyone in the community thinks they own - because they do! It's a space for our own activities & events, for all ages from toddlers, through teenagers to older people. It's a centre with the things that you like happening in it - both weekly regular stuff & special events.
We'll be creating a number of spaces in the former Memorial Club, and they will be open to all - no membership & no criteria. Some activities may need to charge a small entrance fee to cover their costs but a locally-run charity will be running the centre as a not-for-profit venture.
The key thing here is: if you would like a group to exist in the area, then just come & have a chat - we'll see what we can do to help you! Equally, we need some help - if you'd like to see a great thriving community centre at the heart of Barrow Hill, providing things to do, community spirit, events & skills into the next generation then help out - in any way you can! We welcome any offers of help or feedback.
