Bookbinding Materials

Here are some recommendations of the materials I like and use to make my own books!

Book Board

Other names for Book Board:

Binder Board, Chip Board, Davey Board, Museum Board

PVA Glue

Waxed Linen Thread

Crawford Waxed Linen Thread

I use the 4-ply Crawford thread and it is magical. Spending a bit more on this stuff is totally worth it in my opinion.

My very favorite place to get the best waxed linen thread is https://www.royalwoodltd.com/cat14-17aw.htm

If you do get an order from them, make sure you ask about wholesale prices because its cheaper! You can also get it on Etsy for a bit more money.

Needles

Curved Needles

50 Pieces Curved Needles

I don't have a favorite brand of curved needles yet, but these work just fine.

Crewel Needles

I don't have a favorite brand of crewel needles either. The pack from Walmart works just fine, and this Amazon pack is fine too. I do prefer the Crewel Needles over other straight needles though because they hold up really well!

Paper

Thicker Paper

I love this UCreate paper! It's affordable, but super nice. Works well with watercolor, acrylic, ink, etc.

Other thick paper: Rives BFK, Arches, Rising Stonehenge

Thinner Paper

Mohawk is one of my very favorite papers, but it doesn't do as well with watercolor, inky pens, or markers.
