Grading Robin Salo’s 22-23 Season

Robin Salo Grade:   C 

We didn’t see as much of Robin Salo in the 2022-23 season as maybe expected, Salo started opening night on the 3rd pair and didn’t play another NHL game for the Islanders after the new year. In his 11 games, the 24-year-old Finnish defenseman notched two goals and two assists. But by January, Salo was simply replaced by the likes of Sam Bolduc and Parker Wotherspoon as the team’s 7th defenseman. There were rumors out of Bridgeport that Salo was quite unhappy with playing in Bridgeport. I wouldn’t be shocked to see Salo dealt this summer after only playing 32 career games with the Isles.
