Baptiste NICOUD

I am an ecosystem scientist studying the dynamics of mountain trees and shrubs. Using remote sensing, historical imagery, and dendrochronology, I investigate spatiotemporal patterns of woody vegetation expansion in high-elevation environments and the respective roles of climate warming and land-use change. I also examine the climatic controls on radial growth of mountain shrubs and trees in the context of ongoing climate change. My research has focused primarily on the European Alps, and in the future, I would like to explore links between population dynamics and individual growth patterns to better understand ecosystem responses to global change.
