About me

I am an economist and work as a data scientist at Lidl. I apply machine learning methods and build data-driven solutions to support various business decisions like staff planning or promotion design. I participate in the entire development process from understanding the business problem to planning, developing and operating the data product. Previously, I worked at at Datapolis where I analyzed urban mobility patterns to create new insights about existing and potential costumers.

I hold a  PhD from the Central European University.  In my thesis, I designed experiments to study how making choices affects the way people think about products. I find that people become more pessimistic about a product that they do not choose. Moreover, they become less willing to revise their beliefs if they receive information after the choice.

During my PhD studies, I have been working on various empirical research projects at CEU Microdata. For example, we analyzed the effect of political connectedness of firms on media advertisement, or explored the impact of firm network characteristics on firm performance.

My favorite hobby is football, I equally enjoy playing, watching and reading about it. I am also enthusiastic about drawing insights from football data. For example, I found that journalists put a much higher  weight on actual results (that are heavily influenced by luck) compared to underlying performance when they rate football players.
